Fire

We are here to communicate fire safety design differently in it's simplest form.

What we believe in

Understanding fire safety design should not be a hassle.

We believe that fire safety design needs to be communicated in the simplest manner.

We are here to make that difference by setting a new benchmark in fire engineering while maintaining the highest level of fire safety.

What we offer!

We have had good track records in delivering fire safety designs for residential buildings whether in apartment buildings, independent living in retirement villages, terraced homes, student accommodations or boutique hotels. Our strength in designing  lies in our ability to truly understand building services and modern architecture needs such that the process of incorporating fire safety features would become seamless and an integral part of these residential building designs. We truly believe that a detailed design coordination and the integration of passive fire design is crucial for a smooth construction phase.

Commercial settings, often with high occupant densities and the lack of knowledge for where the building exits are located could dictate evacuation following social influence thus leading to unwanted outcomes in the event of an emergency. We at Igneous Fire have proven our ability to design commercial buildings of sorts from small-medium retail fitouts to new-build large retail complexes with open atria. We have provided fire engineering design using passive and active smoke control systems in such buildings to provide safe evacuation for building occupants

Education centres such as early childhood, schools and learning centres often have higher occupant densities with focused activities. With modern learning approach, architectural design often allows for open spaces and interconnectivity between teaching spaces to encourage collaboration. This sometimes may put a strain on the fire engineering design limitations within the prescriptive Acceptable Solutions framework and thus require a performance-based approach. We have designed education centres using performance-based approach which allows for higher flexibility, increased occupancy and an optimised active fire safetysystem.

The design of healthcare buildings, whether hospital or care buildings in retirement villages, requires strong fundamental knowledge on staff operations, distribution and healthcare needs. Hospital with operating theatres and complex operations are not covered under the current compliance documents and require a performance-based alternative design solution.  Using first principles, we engineer these fire safety solutions by closely collaborating with not only the design team but also to work with healthcare operators and approval authorities early on in the project. This allows us to minimise design risk and provide more flexibility in the design strategy.

Passive fire is not only a necessity in new builds but also facilitates a well-coordinated design to streamline construction. The complexities often lie in non-compliant passive fire systems in existing buildings requiring retrofit and out of the box solutions. We have a broad knowledge on the passive fire systems and testing limitation of products. Understanding the limitation of the site and consultation with passive fire stopping manufacturers enable us to device alternative solutions for fire stopping, on an as near as is reasonably practicable basis.
We understand that in current unprecedented times, procurement issues may require product substitution and introduce additional time constraints. We strive to work along the project team to address and resolve these as a team together.

&

Extensive project experience in both public and private sectors, including residential, commercial retails, offices, warehouses, event centres, healthcare, educational and correctional settings.

Absar Ahmad

Absar has worked overseas in Belgium on metro stations, tunnels, large underground carparks and stadia which provided a strong basis for carrying out complex performance-based fire engineering. Over the last 9 years in New Zealand, Absar has designed milestone projects including multi-level inter-connected commercial building, hospitals with operating theatres, schools and residential buildings.

Jen Tang

Jen has worked on complex projects including residential, commercial, event centres, healthcare and correctional facilities. Some of his key experiences include developing comprehensive smoke-control management system in atrium settings, designing a partial sprinkler protected buildings and managing the fire safety design & review of multiple prisons.

Xu Tao

Xu has an extensive experience across various sectors including high-profile commercial buildings, educational facilities, residential buildings and crowd use facilities. Through these projects, Xu has developed an in-depth understanding on fire safety design and performance based solutions.
