A new warehouse development for storage (racking) use with a two-level office space. The building is designed to have a knee height of 10m and a roof apex of 14m high.
Challenges & Solutions
Based on the storage height, the prescriptive design approach (Acceptable Solutions - C/AS2) requires sprinkler protection throughout and also fire separating the upper floor office. However, with the Verification Method - C/VM2 approach, utilising natural ventilation and computer modelling the sprinkler requirement was designed out.
Results
Resulting in a significant reduction in design and construction cost for the project.
